Most often when high school friends form a band it never gets beyond some home recordings and a scattering of local gigs. Some manage to hold it together long enough to put out an album or two and catch some national attention before disbanding in acrimony, fatigue and/or clashing priorities. Not only are the members of Little Dragon still together, but they’re making some marvelous music. Lead singer Yukumi Nagano is on quite a few Best Of lists this year, but for her contribution to DJ Shadow’s Scale it Back or  collaboration with SBTRKT.  Good songs, but Little Man from their album Ritual Union is a great song. It stands up to repeated listening. This is a band with wry wit, nuanced and cuttingly precise.
